Namarupa, Categories of Indian Thought, is a journal devoted to presenting the knowledge, practices and art that have arisen from the spiritual heart of India. The vast array of teachings that have been given to the world by India includes yoga, Vedantic philosophies, refined devotional practices, pilgrimage, aesthetics, temple worship and art.

Namarupa endeavors to document and share these teachings, by providing a platform for practitioners and authors within these traditions to present them in an accurate manner. We seek to enable their views to be put forth without endorsement or condemnation of otherŐs systems. We accept the viewpoint that each traditional perspective of reality is like a branch on the vast tree of knowledge, a tree that provides shade and sustenance to those who come seeking, without concern for sectarian bias.

We read and look at submissions in the form of articles, academic works, essays, interviews, translations of sacred texts, excerpts of published works, reviews of books, movies and videos, photographs, photographic essays and artwork.

We do not accept poetry or fiction. We are not able to review books, DVDs, etc., so please do not submit them. We would accept a written review for consideration.

To date most contributors have submitted material voluntarily, but we are able to pay a small honorarium when requested.
